Re: The Bridge

Post by Impromptu on Wed Jun 11, 2014 1:05 pm

Impromptu, in her hustle, didn't notice the ominous figure following her- normally she would, but her focus was on the path ahead. In fact, she almost considered ignoring the voice that had broken Eastern Cor Lumina's silent air; she wasn't the type to leave people in the dark if they asked for her knowledge, though- however rarely that may have occured. Stopping in her tracks, she turned to locate the source of the voice and pulled the Winter Veil out of her face so she could address them properly.

"Not at all..." The magus stepped into the light of a nearby lamppost. "I don't know very much about it myself, but farther east, people have been going unconscious rather frequently. Now, er.. I'm not entirely sure why, but I did a little inspection on a patient they had at the nearby infirmary, and..."

Now she wasn't quite sure if she wanted to divulge her discovery- if it was wrong, then the green-clad boy she was addressing might freak out and cause a ruckus. The last thing she wanted was to misguide anyone. But she was already in the middle of a sentence...

"I.. think they were missing their soul."

Expecting a hint of confusion, she began to elaborate. "See- I studied magic for many years, and I've learned how the soul attracts mana, supernatural energy, and also how it generates a sort of special warmth in the bodies of those who possess them." She took a nervous glance down a nearby alley, where she spotted a fallen figure on the other side- "The people here are starting to become unnaturally cold. The body itself produces warmth, but... the life-energy normally present in any body, no matter how healthy, is just.. gone."

"In simpler terms, I believe the cold wind washing over the town is taking human souls somewhere. Now, as for where I'm going-" She turned away from the boy, and pointed towards her destination, where the moon hovered close to the water.

"-I'm heading through the docks, towards a tower in the central area of town to see if I can get a better vantage point on the wind direction, perhaps locate an origin... end it, if need be. " After making this statement, Impromptu paused- she didn't really think about fighting again until just now.

"So what are you doing here? Considering the direction of the wind... The breeze is stronger in the port area, at the moment. I think it would be a good idea for you to head back West."

The Kirby sighed, laying back in his cot. He closed his eyes a bit.

He should be dead. That's all he could think of, that he should have died back there. Anyone else would have left him to die after that, just a petty thief that would be buried with a nameless grave. That was the last fate he expected when he was young...but it was the first fate he's recently expected.

He sat up. He wanted to talk to that girl. Maybe...she'd understand his plight.

-Rapier Forte-

"Two targets sighted."

"Doesn't matter, I'll take both of them on..."

Rapier leaped onto a wall of a building and jumped to the rooftops from there. He then looked around and saw, through a few houses, the round creature was still, talking to another figure highlighted in yellow. Rapier leaped forward once more and guided himself down to right behind the Kirby.

"Too easy..." Rapier muttered striking down with his left blade and up with his right blade.

-Lady Aurora-

"He's aiming at someone, probably...someone named Impromptu Sorida," Sophie thought to herself.

Sophie leaped up high into the sky and with a light pulse of energy dived towards the figure marked in red on the roof tops. As she landed, he leaped off and aimed himself towards a figure highlighted in yellow.

"Hm... I should warn her," Sophie thought to herself.

"Impromptu, look out behind you, a swordsman is going to attack you soon," Sophie said focusing her thought towards Impromptu.

Sophie saw Rapier diving down rapidly towards Impromptu. As he landed Sophie leaped up and aimed herself at Rapier's position. She drew out Procta from thin air and twisted herself to a smashing position.

"If you dodge forward, I can help you," Sophie said to Impromptu only.

As the pink puffball gave her explanation of what she knew of the unconscious people all over the place, Mirkwood was shocked by the statement she made.
"Their soul, gone? There must be a large group of powerful magi that pulled this off..." he whispered to himself.
After stating her question, and her suggestion, Mirkwood responded.
"Well, I was just seeing if some of my friends at the infirmary knew anything about it. But considering that you have just come from there, I doubt they have any information that you don't. To your suggestion, I respect your warning, but what would I do in the western part of the city? Cower in some room in an inn, or a dank alleyway? Even if I leave the city, who's to say the dark wind would stop there? How about I go with you? I'm quite the shot with this bow, and I do have some elemental magic abilities. What do you say?"

It was as he finished this that the two figures dived down from the sky.

Re: The Bridge

Post by Rena on Thu Jun 12, 2014 7:04 pm

Something prickled at his consciousness. Something other than memories and guilt.

His reason for being here had shown itself.

Summoning the winds again, Seven sprinted off. He'd know his mission when he reached it....

It didn't take him long. Two figures diving out of the sky, one of which he recognized from earlier. "It's her...I don't like this."

Seven then focused on the two being dived
at, and realized he knew them.

"NEP MIT NELM, YI PEN NAQEN! QITEL!"

Dashing in front of Mirk and Impromptu, Seven focused his will, combining several spells in to one massive defense.

A wall of crystal shot up, out of the earth, and became laced with lines of fire and lightning. An air current rippled over it, building a screen. Light flashed, and the crystal, lightning, and fire all vanished, leaving behind a wall of solid light & air capable of withstanding the pressure of an ocean from its floor.

The effort had tired him...but surely the two would be safe.

Taking a handful of cashews from an inner pocket, Seven turned to the pair.

"That...should hold. I'm sorry, my friends. I was...slow. I should have sought you out before danger drew me."

As he spoke, he looked closer at the two.

"Wait. You are...not the same."

Seven gestured to Impromptu.

"You are Impromptu, yes? The cleric?

Then, to Mirk.

"And you are Mirkwood?"

His hands moved restlessly. Seven's agitation caused two of his old weapons - a Bravace and a Meteor Cudgel - to appear beside him, on the ground.

"Lanent! Can nothing work properly!?"

This entire exchange happened in under two minutes. Seven has registered, in the back of his mind, that spoke with extreme speed, leaving no real time for answers. Even his shielding was up in barely a second. Yet still, he was impatient, waiting for answers...

Re: The Bridge

"I would very much appreciate your company, sir, but-"

Impromptu, look out behind you, a swordsman is going to attack you soon. If you dodge forward, I can help you.

Impromptu made a mistake in turning around instead of following the voice's directions- There, a woman clad in armor and another figure who appeared to have been about to strike her clashed in midair. As this single moment flashed before her vision, she knew she couldn't move out of the way fast enough- maybe if she pulled on the wind again, but...

"NEP MIT NELM, YI PEN NAQUEN! QITEL!"

Deep, foreign sounding words broke the frozen moment she had been focusing on, and soon a wall of crystal intertwined with the elements burst from the ground. Behind that wall was a tall, green suited figure- the one who conjured the thing, she suspected. At this moment in time, she had a hard time finding the right words to say.. if there was anything for her to say, anyway.

The man turned, pulling out a handful of some.. exotic looking fruit out of his pocket. What puzzled her was that he referred to them as friends- she hadn't met this person before in her entire life, as far as she was aware. He called her by her name (and without adding her surname, which wasn't something she was used to) , and addressed another called 'Mirkwood'. Likely, this was the boy she was talking to.

"Y-yes, Impromptu Sorida. And, er- I'm not a cleric." Around here, this was usually the part where she would interject with: "I would like to be, don't get me wrong, but my mother would never let me waste my powers in such a position", but at the moment things were moving very fast and she decided that such conversation could be saved for more convenient times.

"I would ask how you know our names, but perhaps formal introductions are to be made in a, erm, safer, location." The magus turned to face the action and whipped out the legendary trident, its chrome plate glimmering under the lamplight. As the stranger had summoned weapons (and some oddly futuristic looking ones, at that), she figured it was time to fight.

"..Pleasure to meet you," she added.

Something caught Atmos' eye: A pink puffball and a green-clad boy.

Hey, they're upright... unlike those poor people on the- HEY!

That was also when he noticed the formerly cloaked figure had begun to attack. The events transpired so quickly. A woman clashed with the man to keep him from hurting the two below, then out of nowhere a man shouted in that odd language again, and the three were now shielded by a magic barrier. Atmos could make his move now and did just that.

He pushed off the mast with his blade-staff in hand and fell. His wings snapped out quickly and his was lifted into the sky. He banked a wide turn   towards the commotion, his nerves were steeled and his weapon ready. Oh but how visible was his shadow in the moonlight. It made sense to defend the ones attacked, but the shield was up so he couldn't get right in from of them. He halted his bank with two rough beats and began to hover in place.

They seem safe in that bubble... He thought. So he angled his staff precisely and aimed for the dual-wielding antagonist. Atmos slashed hard at the air forcing it forward into this lash of gale-force air headed for Rapier.

-Rapier Forte-

"Ach! Tiea Bein Sulac!" Rapier shouted as he hit the barrier. He swept upwards again and parried away Lady Aurora's smash before hopping back.

"Five on One disadvantage, three highs, engaging boosts," a voice sounded in his head. His body began to glow and he grinned a little. [All Stats x 12]

"Well well well... Miss Aurora, it's nice to see you again," Rapier said guarding himself and slashing out the air current heading towards him from another direction.

Rapier glanced at the barrier and back at Lady Aurora.

"They won't be going anywhere if they want to live with those barriers..." Rapier muttered to himself. His blades changed colors as he changed back to an offensive and defensive stance.

-Lady Aurora-

"Too slow..." Lady Aurora thought to herself, seeing Impromptu turn around, "at least Seven's there though."

Lady Aurora slowed down her strike, and prepared a counter to Rapier's attacks as she landed on the ground between the three and Rapier.

"Forte..." Lady Aurora said curtly responding to Rapier's statement after his attack boosts.

"At least a 4 - 1 disadvantage... no 5 - 1, that wind wasn't ordinary," Lady Aurora thought to herself, "he probably has already called for the other two. I should take him out before they arrive. I have Seven and... Atmos, looks like, who could even the odds. Impromptu and Mirkwood need to get moving soon."

"Impromptu, Mirkwood, Seven, Atmos," Lady Aurora said directing her thoughts away from Rapier. "I know that you all have a lot of questions, and some of you don't trust me, but two of you are late to where you're headed, so we need to get you there soon enough. Seven, escort Impromptu and Mirkwood to wherever Impromptu is heading. Atmos, if you can help me take on Rapier, that would be very helpful. Seven, Impromptu, Mirkwood, I'm going to drain your barriers somewhat and then launch you three over Rapier, when he attempts to attack you, I'll deflect him away, and you can go on."

(Lady Aurora's plan in a nutshell: Seven follows Impromptu and Mirkwood, Atmos helps Lady Aurora, Lady Aurora will launch Seven, Impromptu, and Mirkwood above Rapier and defend them from any attacks.)

"His blades are charged... those barriers won't do you any good if he gets a direct hit... We should start now," Lady Aurora said changing Procta to Survon.

Re: The Bridge

Post by Rena on Fri Jun 13, 2014 7:48 pm

A voice invaded his skull, trying to give him orders.

One voice spoke as many in a roaring return.

'You think you know me. That you may disregard me, send me off as a shepherd, an escort. You are incorrect.'

A typhoon of memories ripped their way along the mental link. Seven is seen murdering the other Numbereds, mercilessly. Thirteen was decapitated, Three was shot in the head, and Eleven was sucked in to a black hole. Rage, grief, and determination echoed these images.

A suffocating wave of pain followed...

Seven continued his retaliatory assault, and at the same time, began to construct a compound spell of incomprehensible complexity.

Megiverse was cast, and sustained. Gigrant, Megivers' natural opposite on the spectrum, was set in the middle of it.

Notes of Harmony were sung, forcing the two opposites to agree. The resulting portal ripped wide.

Power and calm emanated from Seven. A string of Notes struck the air - Beckoning, Enticement, Command, and Dissonance twinned and mixed, making a devastatingly beautiful melody.

"Counterpoint of Chaos!"

As always, when using a Song, the words ripped from Seven's throat without his consent. His portal stretched towards the sky, enveloping the barrier. Through it, a nightmarish landscape could be seen.

The soil was comprised of ghostly hands grasping the air, while faces mouthed and tears flowed freely. Trees darker than blackest winter nights danced on the banks of silver rivers of Torment and Regret, leaves of fire painting the sky a garish, bloody red.

From beyond the shadows in the land, below the clouds wrought by demonic hands, a creature emerged.

A horrifying beast.

The Devil's Shadow.

Seven mounted this monstrosity, and charged Rapier directly. Six columns of wind surrounded him and his mount, ready to deflect attacks. Knives of Ice flew from the beating wings of the beast, sailing to impale his target. Flames lit his face, showing rage and pain in equal amounts warring across his ancient features.

"You wanted a fight, then? You have one. I am borderline immune to psychic communications and attacks, surrounded defensively by all the winds in the land, and no element is beyond my control. Even Eldritch Horrors obey my call!

Seven gestured to his flying mount.

"So come. Test your luck! Yet if you have any brains under all that bravado and idiocy, you will retreat."

Re: The Bridge

Post by Mirkwood on Fri Jun 13, 2014 9:04 pm

As the two figures swooped from the sky, a third ran between him and the puffball, and almost instantaneously created a crystalline shield of elements surrounding the three of them. After the green-robed man had done this, he spoke a few words, ending with a confirmation of their names. His reference to them as friends was odd, considering that Mirkwood had never met him before, at least to his own knowledge. However, that could be explained by his next statement, implying that he thought that Mirkwood and "Impromptu", the puffball, were each someone that he, the robed man, knew. The green mage's knowledge of Mirkwood's name was somewhat surprising, but not particularly so. It was entirely possible that he was watching the archery contest earlier, or had heard of him by one of the guide's clients. However, considering the surprise of Impromptu at his knowledge of her name, there was most likely another explanation.

After Impromptu's confirmation of her name, and the denial of being a cleric, Mirkwood answered to the stranger.
"I am, in fact, Mirkwood. "

When the the other two had finished talking, they drew weapons, the robed man two weapons he couldn't quite identify, and Impromptu a trident that shone in the moonlight. Mirkwood pulled out his bow, stepping back as far as the barrier would allow.

Suddenly, there was voice, inside his head, telling him that he would be launched over someone named Rapier, who was presumably the swooper with the two swords. However, soon after, the robed man started casting spells, and then of all things, started singing. The song was haunting and horrible, yet beautiful tune. At the end of it, he shouted the words, "Counterpoint of Chaos!"
These words seemed to trigger a portal of sorts which appeared near them. Within the portal there was a scene of death and destruction. From that scene, a tremendous beast, horrendous to look at, emerged. And the robed man mounted it like it was nothing. While he gave a challenge to the man called Rapier, Mirkwood could only stand in shock. Surely there was no way anyone could stand against such power. Mirkwood simply watched and waited to see what would happen.

"...Atmos, if you can help me take on Rapier, that would be very helpful."

He pondered the voice and guessed who was talking based on the motive of the voice.

I'll do what I can. I'll try to give you an openi- W-What?"

Suddenly the one he noted as Seven from Lady Aurora's directions had created this magnificent light-show of magic. In a matter of moments a terrifying beast was set free from the portal and Seven's words rang clear as day.

Now what, Lady? He thought as he dove in closer to the action to be of quick assistance. His staff was in a readied position to either defend or let loose another rush of wind.

He put himself between Impromptu & Mirkwood as they drew weapons, and Rapier.

Lady, I have pretty standard physical power and almost no magical ability, but I'll do what I can to assist. Give me directions.

For now he was in defensive position watching both Seven and Rapier.

-Rapier Forte-

Rapier's eyes narrowed as he saw Lady Aurora stand there for a while and then change swords. Guessing that she would use the three strongest present to take him on, he changed his stance slightly. He noticed a slight energy coming from the one that casted the barriers before that one uttered "Counterpoint of Chaos" and a portal expanded and Seven mounted a beast.

["You wanted a fight, then? You have one. I am borderline immune to psychic communications and attacks, surrounded defensively by all the winds in the land, and no element is beyond my control. Even Eldritch Horrors obey my call!

Seven gestured to his flying mount.

"So come. Test your luck! Yet if you have any brains under all that bravado and idiocy, you will retreat."]

Rapier laughed at the scene and moved deftly around stray ice bits. "You think this is strong enough to stop me? You mock me..." Rapier's eyes glinted and glowed up, his armor shifted around, and he saw lines everywhere.

"He's weak, but a good enough prey," he muttered as he ran forwards towards the beast and Seven.

-Lady Aurora-

Noticing Seven disregarding her orders/ suggestions, and Atmos asking what to do, Lady Aurora replied back to Atmos.

"Help Seven, if he doesn't get any he will die. Keep sending gales at Rapier to add more variables to his battle logarithms. I'll bring Impromptu and Mirkwood to where they have to go," Lady Aurora said focusing on Atmos only. She withdrew her sword and focused on Impromptu and Mirkwood saying, " We should go now, you have a schedule to keep. Hold my hands."

Lady Aurora stretched out both her hands towards Impromptu and Mirkwood.

"Seven, I'll tell you what I can about Rapier, but do know that you are outmatched, so don't fight him for too long. He is able to cut both physical and non-physical things out of existence, because of that, no matter how much magic one uses or any defenses he will get through. He's agile as well, most attacks miss him altogether, just the hits he wants to parry get to him."

Lady Aurora began to glow slightly. Focusing on Impromptu and Mirkwood again," the sooner the better. I'll be able to help Seven if we go now."

Seven heard the words. They registered, but his automatic response could not be stemmed. Thoughts and memories from the darkest depths of his mind would shortly assault any who sought to speak to him in such a way.

Rapier began to charge him. The winds surrounding him both stole away sound, yet at the same time reeled it in.

'Weak...good prey.'

Seven began to laugh. The sound was deep and heartfelt, resounding around the walls beneath him and his fight.

"You hope to scan me."

The words were directed at Rapier. Taking Shadow to the skies again, Seven avoided his seemingly groundbound foe.

"You wish to see strength, then?"

Different notes fell from his lips. The new sounds struck the air like bombs, harsh and grating. The air only chilled at the sound.

"Then perhaps you would like to fight, instead of assuming you might toy with me?"

The winds battered themselves out. The rest of the Icy Knives melted, pattering to the ground like rain. The flames orbiting Seven sputtered, and died.

Seven calmly dismounted in midair, falling to the ground, but landing gracefully, only bending slightly at the knees.

As one, a sword and shield hurtled out of the air, cutting through his summoned mount. The beast screeched, and was absorbed in to the pieces of equipment.

Shield and Sword were both taken up by Seven, and a matching suit of armor began to expand around his form.

"So be it."

His voice sounded slightly metallic from inside the armor.

"You wanted combat. You charge one of the Numbereds. Have you ever wondered which?"

Though not visible beneath his new helmet, Seven glared.

"I am the Seventh Sage, Assassin of Kings, by order of Lord Thirteen. By decree of Oath and Contract, I am also the Twelfth Leader, the Eleventh Sorcerer, the Tenth Technician, the Ninth Necromancer, the Eighth Poet, the Sixth Knight, the Fifth General, the Fourth Judge, the Third Witch, the Second Supplier, and the First Monk."

Seven rattled off the full list of Numbered Titles, and the air around him went still. Throughout history, it was unprecedented for one who was not originally a Thirteen to hold every title at once. The strain drove men insane, slaughtered their souls.

"I may change battle routes in a moments notice. Try to keep up."

With that, Seven hefted the Sixth Sword with one hand, and the Sixth Shield was strapped to the other properly as he walked calmly towards Rapier.

'The Courage and Honor you bestow me with are much appreciated, Six. I am sorry for my crimes to you.'

There now seemed to be an enormous show of power between Rapier and Seven. Though they didn't look particularly impressive, both only wielding weapons and wearing armor, Seven with a sword and shield, and Rapier with his two swords, Mirkwood could feel the power radiating from them.

Then the voice came again, prompting Mirkwood and Impromptu to hold the speaker's, Lady Aurora's, hands. She seemed trustworthy enough, considering she hadn't killed them yet, but the archer wanted answers.
"Before I come with you, I have a few questions. First, who exactly are you, and why ate you here? Second, who is..." Mirkwood then pointed to Rapier, "... that, exactly, and why is he here? And lastly, why do you say we have to be somewhere, like it's destiny? Have you been talking to the debatably existent Fates? Is there some ancient prophesy, like this?" Mirkwood began speaking in a low, dramatic voice. "When the day comes that on a celebration night in this city, a cold wind blows, stealing away the very souls of the people, there shall arise two saviors with very odd names. A puffball magus and an green-clad archer guy. Together, they will stop the dark wind, and return peace to the land!" He resumed speaking in his normal voice now. "Like that?"

Keep sending gales at Rapier to add more variables to his battle logarithms.

"Right!" He was lost at logarithms, but he could do what she asked and a tad better if he had his chance. He swooped up overhead Seven and began twirling his staff so that both ends were sending powerful currents of air aimed at Rapier.

He was unrelenting due to his practice with the specific skill. In the middle of this, a thought crossed his mind; You're leaving? ... Don't delay. I feel like we two won't be enough to stop him.

I hope Seven doesn't do something else unplanned.

"Excuse me, combatants; if you could calm down for a moment, I have a bit of info that you may appreciate."

The confident sound of the Detective's voice came over a series of intercoms, stationed inside the stone gargoyles that dotted the buildings here and there; the spread was just good enough for Darkmen's voice to be heard just about everywhere in the city.

"While I'm sure you're having fun beating each other into the sidewalk, I'm afraid there's a mystery at large. It seems a good majority of the population has gone to beddy-bye, and for no obvious reason. I, however, and apparently you violence enthusiasts, have not been affected. This is a dangerous problem; if nothing is done, these people might just die. Or they might not. I plan to crack this case and find the culprit, but before that I'd say we better figure out who hasn't been knocked out and why.

My name's Darkmen. Detective Darkmen. I'm positioned at the tower toward the center of town. I'd suggest anyone else not knocked out should meet up here so we can get to the bottom of this.

He added to the end, "Oh, and watch your back; whoever did this is still out there, somewhere in the city. In fact, they might be someone standing right next to you." He then stambered, "T...take care. Oh, an-"

And then the Detective dropped his microphone off the tower, it tumbling down to the ground below with a load smash. Ugh, just his luck; manage to pull a Wide-City-Transceiver from his Bag-Of-Random-Garbage, and just when he's done he manages to break the thing. He sighed a bit; regardless, he could only hope those brawlers would show up to help. This was a strange mystery indeed; in a matter of minutes, the entire town was falling into sleep, and not a reason why. Perhaps by getting everyone together, though, they could figure out why this was happening. He sort of felt bad about leaving that stranger he had met in the dust, but he had to get to work on this mystery.

With his message given, Darkmen simply sat in a window sill towards the top of the tower and waited. If those guys were as useful as they were incredibly dangerous, they might just figure this out.

"BOO!"

As the detective started and turned, Aquinas laughed. "Yo, hope you don't mind me trailing you. You looked like you were on the trail of something fun, and I like fun." The time-traveler leaned casually against the wall next to the window. "Besides, I have a feeling I can help out with this. Since I'm somehow immune to the hypersomnia flu, I guess that makes me special." He smiled. "Then again, I suppose being from another dimension makes me a little more than special."

Taking a look out the window, the dark-haired quirk made a gesture indicative of sudden realization. "Oh, I teleported here. You were probably wondering, sorry." He tapped his wristwatch. "What's taking the Fight Club?"

Re: The Bridge

Warps was still angrily walking the streets when they heard... several loud noises, all in quick succession. Sounded like some kinda fight was going on? That didn't... seem very safe for the countless people lying around unconscious. As much as Warps wasn't in the mood for this right now, they still knew that something seriously needed to happen if they wanted those people to not die. Grinding their teeth together, they came to a decision...

and then some guy said a bunch of stuff through a sort of... intercom thing?

Weird. Well, it was a lead, at least, and they knew the specific location. Hopefully this Darkmen dude's message would be enough to stop that fight, wherever it was taking place. In the meantime, the rings around Warps's fingers began to shine, and they whipped strong streams of fire into the stone street at their feet for about fifteen seconds. The end result was a complex summoning circle, still glowing with heat.

"Come!"

With that, a great beast rose through the circle, a massive eyeless raven. It had no empty sockets, but no sockets to begin with, and its dusty feathers seemed made of coal. Warps patted its diamond beak once, grinning and whispering Who's a good crow?, and then leapt onto its back.

"Alright, let's go."

With two colossal flaps of its wings, the bird was in the air; two more, and it was soaring through the sky, leaving a thin trail of coal dust behind it. 'The tower at the center of town' was a pretty easy destination to locate, and with Warps's guidance, the bird was above it in a quick minute. Rather than bothering to land it, Warps instead opted to backflip off of it and onto the top of the tower, the raven vanishing in the usual flash of fire.

Man, rides like that always made Warps feel better. But they reminded themselves quickly enough that they were there for a reason. Not seeing anyone on the tower, they assumed that Darkmen must be in the tower, and planned their next actions accordingly. With a snap of their fingers, a simple summoning circle made of fire appeared in the air in front of them; reaching into it, they pulled out a black and red hatchet, one yellow eye placed where the axehead and handle met. Leaping off the roof, they swung the hatchet into the building's side, slowing down their descent enough for them to break through the first window they saw. Once that was over with, they prepared to search through the whole dumb building to find Mr. Darkmen, only to realize that they had at least two people right in front of them.

Wiping the surprised look off their face in an instant, they attained a neutral expression. "Which one of you's Darkmen?"

-Rapier Forte-

"Rapier, disengage now!" a voice said from Rapier's earpiece

"As if, this guy seems good enough to hunt," Rapier replied parrying off some of the gales.

"You're outclassed, even if you can't die my suit and material can get destroyed... so disengage now!"

"Tch- Dalicei Doctor! E Neisces ta geios stora!" Rapier yelled out, his suit turning colors from the plain blue to lightish pink

"There's no way of turning you around is there?" the voice said, then sighed. "Deactivated."

Rapier's suit turned back to blue and his blades retract back, he kneeled on one knee and shouted, " E Cares ne Doctor!" As he shouted this a portal appeared between him and the various people he was targetting, and swiped through him quickly, leaving no trace of him to be found.

-Lady Aurora-

"Well... I am a member of the Order of Justice who's goal is to defend dimensions from any interference by Society of Justice members, because of that we never consider ourselves part of the "correct" time path. I'm here because of Rapier, who wants to alter the "correct" time path by killing certain people of this place. And, I say that because it's part of the "correct" time path, where you guys are not interrupted by Rapier trying to attack you all. Now hold my... wait," Lady Aurora explained and said without moving at all.

"... stora! E Cares ne Doctor!"

"Okay... it seems like we don't have to worry about him then... perhaps I overestimated Rapier's ability. It doesn't matter," Lady Aurora thought to herself retracting her hands.

"It seems the good Doctor from the Society has recalled Rapier, I don't know the reason why, but it doesn't matter, that voice... I believe it said it was Detective Darkmen, he doesn't seem to know what is going on as well. Impromptu, keep going the way you were going, you'll find what you're looking for," she said focusing on no one in order to allow everyone nearby to hear.

Lady Aurora then looked around and focused on the earpiece strapped onto her arm.

"How many more Society members are left?" Lady Aurora said focusing on the earpiece

"None expected, but you never know right? It seems that all the Society member are being brought back to their HQ, they may be preparing something for another Dimension. We'll handle it, you need to stay there. Turns out, you still need to be there for a little while longer."

"... What?"

"Yeah, you're kinda a part of the situation there, so do what you think is right."

"Hm..."

Lady Aurora looked around at everyone again.

"I'll look around for the source of this magic from above," she said before jumping up above the houses.

Relief washed over Seven - He would not have to engage. While prepared to enter the fray, that was not his goal here.

A quick rift was opened. Through it, a smog choked the skies, and not a thing moved. All was still. Leaning in carefully, Seven deposited the Sixth Sword, and matching Sixth Shield, inside the Numbered Vault...then closed the rift, before either side could affect the other.

The announcement that had sounded still rang in his ears. The Detectives request was reasonable, but also wholly a distraction. Yet...

----

Seven walked carefully in to the room. It hadn't been hard to gauge where in the tower to go, as a window was smashed on the outside, bent inwards. Someone had forced entry, likely airborne. Standing in shadows, Seven did not announce himself, preferring to observe.

He'd interfered quite enough.

So many voices from so many places. Detective Darkmen calling from the speakers, Rapier disappearing into portals, and now Seven walking off to wherever he was going.

It was all so confusing for Atmos.

So he thought it'd just be best to rest again. His wings were beginning to feel sore and he knew they would only get worse. He finally came down from flapping about and folded his tired and aching wings.

"Gah... Just... gonna sit down." And so he did. He sat down on the cold brick road to catch his breath. His wings went from folded to limp so they could relax.

Cor Lumina... almost as tiring as flying over the sea. ...These poor people though... He thought on this for a moment. I know. I'll find them some shelter and a place to rest... just so that they're out of the streets. One by one if I have to.

And that Darkmen guy... He can wander in the dark for now, what matters is dealing with the issue. Which means I shall tend to these people as soon as I get some adequate rest. It sounded lazy to him, but Atmos was especially tired.

"WOAH GOODNESS!"

The detective threw himself against the window from the shock of the stranger's appearance, freezing cold breath escaping him as his former informant revealed himself. The detective shuddered, pulling himself back to his faculties, as he eyed the traveler who seemed to appear behind him. Hearing the man's explanation, he managed to return, "Y...yeah, thanks. Could use any help I can get. But uh, please don't do something like that again, ok? Sorry, I'm, uh, a bit jumpy at times."

He coughed into his gloved hand and shuffled his coat, saying, "As for the others, I'm not really sure, but they didn't seem too far. Some will probably start showing u-".

And then some demon man smashed in through the window, looking only slightly less surprised than the detective. The devil's question, however, brought the detective back to his senses.

"That'd be me, Beelze-Bub; Detective Darkmen, P.I."
He gave a quick glance to the man's axe, noting, "Cute weapon. Must make Hell of a letter opener." He leaned against the wall right next to the Stranger, and reached into his bag, pulling out a bit of champagne and some glasses. Darkmen poured three glasses with a quick flourish and returned the bottle, tossing a glass at the other two gentlemen in the room.

"Thanks for comin' by, Horns. Whatever's goin' on in this backwater town, it reeks of mischief." He took a sip from his glass (his face somehow managing to remain veiled in darkness), before continuing, "I won't lie to you, Horns, Stranger; I've never seen a case quite like this. Tens of people, falling over in the streets, and not a single tangible clue to be seen. I think I'll save my deductions until a few more maniacs show up, but I'll tell you one thing; I think we have some magic at play."

The detective swished around his champagne a bit absent mindedly, staring into the moving liquid.
How did it end up like this? Here he was, just trying to find a place to stay for the night, and now he was sharing drinks with a demon-looking fellow and a man with the ability to teleport. In his mind, poor Darkmen wasn't sure which he was more afraid of. He sighed; well, things always managed to stay interesting, didn't they?

"Oh, and watch your back; whoever did this is still out there, somewhere in the city. In fact, they might be someone standing right next to you. T...take care. Oh, an-"

A wide-city transceiver, eh?

After the announcement had ended, the lanky silhouette decided that staying in one place for too long wouldn't be very good for him; but he had to stay at a high point in order to continue charming the wind.. Which was a problem. A surprising amount of people seem to have been going airborne today, that, or hopping along the rooftops- he understood that, considering how packed the streets were, but his chances of running into someone dangerous were rising by the minute.

He swung a satchel on his back in front of him, and peered inside of it without opening it very much- the light inside of it was growing, and the bag was bubbling with energy.

"It's not enough.. And we're low on time, are we..?" Pulling the satchel straps back over his shoulders, he stood as tall as he could- he could head to a lonely building he spotted out west, or try to hide in the Central hustle.. East wasn't a very good idea, as he had heard a bit of chaos in that direction. Interesting, considering that was where the wind was coming from.

"I hope to whatever God that still finds me salvageable.. The representative doesn't pass on by. Else, I've failed you, Nana.."

He crouched on the edge of the church roof and sprung westward, the lanterns and life below making him almost invisible.

---

Impromptu wasn't sure about what even happened when all that ended, but she agreed that she had places to go. The matter of the wind was still present, and she was somewhat embarassed to have let it drop anywhere below her first priority- that, and she had no idea how far the cold had gotten at this point.

"Not good- agh.."

The armor-clad woman had sprung to the rooftops, and the magus was to take the quiet path to the clock tower in Central. A little boost there wouldn't hurt, though..

She placed her hand in front of her, the trident standing resolutely at her side. A quiet incantation floated around her:

"Euronotus, my spirit of wind.. Carry us to safety on the breath of the sea.."

As she spoke, a cloud of mist began to gather around the area she stood on, growing thicker at rapid rates. The cloud cast a faint glow over the barren street, giving it an odd sort of life.

Curious if the young archer was still there, she turned slightly.

"Mirkwood.. is it? If you're still planning on coming, stand close. I'm going to head off and start studying."

Mirkwood was about to go towards the tower that the detective said was a gathering place, he heard the puffball, Impromptu, ask him if he was still coming with her. He thought about it for a moment. If he went to the tower, he could tell anyone there about the possible lack of souls in some of the victims. However, that was only one person, and could be a fluke or inaccurate. If he went with Impromptu, he could certify her finding, and perhaps find more information about this. Then, if he needed to, he could give the group a greater amount of information that they might not know.

Mirkwood opted to go with the magus, and responded in accordance. "Mirkwood it is, and I would like to come. Lead the way."
He then started following the puffball closely as she left.

Everyone had left now.

Atmos was just sitting crossed-legged in the streets of Cor Lumina now dead silent besides the occasional splash of water and gust of wind.

That flight.

That fight.

Now he was exhausted. He lowered his head, letting his little braid dangle in front of his face.

If I don't get moving I'll pass out... but it'd be nice to ... rest. "Just got to get over ... there." Atmos scooted over to the edge of the street where the wave met the port, and he waited until the cold seawater splash his legs.

...GH!!

The shock ran up his spine and sent a pain spike to his head. Atmos stood to his feet, awake again but still quite exhausted.

"Let's get going then." He said to himself as he headed towards the closest collapsed body. The man seemed to be a sailor based on his attire. "I'll just keep at this until my legs give out." He walked into the nearest building laying down the unconscious man, then he turned around and repeated the process. ((Unless something stops him.))

The mysterious assailant instead chose to escape. Conveniently enough, but now the Swordsman wasn't about to let him. Flint didn't care that much about the assailant's capture for the moment but he didn't really want to get mixed up in their little tussle. Plus Ery's right behind him, and now that the Assailant's out of the picture, he doesn't need to pretend she's a stranger.

Just as the Swordsman took off after the "Redcoat," Flint instead of joining turned and headed straight for Ery. As he left he shouted over his shoulder "I'm in your debt, swordsman! Cheers!" before returning his focus to Erygirl once again.

Getting a better look at her, she was incognito this time, smart girl- wearing a cap and her tail wasn't visible! Suddenly the thought cross Flint's mind "is this even Ery? either her disguise fools even me or this isn't the Ery I know..."

Suddenly he found himself pausing in the middle of the town, staring at her awkwardly, unable to find a query to determine whether it's the foxgirl he had adventures with before or not. Luckily the rest of the town was absorbed by the fight that the other two men were continuing.

Anyway the staring's over, Flint had to muster up something before it got worse and blurted out "Ery? Y-you okay?" and oh god please let it be a cunning disguise he nervously thought to himself.
